SMART Profiling is an innovative project of STRATEGMA Agency that is developing a trusted virtual adviser for sustainable development of SMEs. In today’s dynamic digital environment this is a knowledge and skills transfer hub that provides key specific information to entrepreneurs, which helps them explore challenges, discover solutions and unlock their sustainability, innovation and inclusive growth potential.
SMART Profiling transforms the data of an enterprise into a strategic asset in order to meet their needs. By means of analysis and contextualisation the service allows early identification and mitigation of operational and strategic risks, adaptive and flexible solutions and development of managerial capabilities through demonstration and support.
SMART Profiling is an accessible, integrated collaboration based on data and adapted to the changing needs of small and medium businesses. The service integrates established management models and scientifically rooted methods and radically improves their results with the help of new knowledge, acquired through application of modern digital analytical means and big and diverse data.
SMART Profiling is a systematic and thorough research process that collects, analyses and interprets a wide range of micro-level data. The result is not limited to a static snapshot of the current situation but visualizes the inherent dynamics of the specific business, including analysis of the processes, dominant trends and future potential.
SMART Profiling democratises expert knowledge and modifies the entire way of functioning of small and medium businesses and the competition among them. This is a new generation strategic engine which provides a competitive advantage to those who need it most.
The Smart Profiling service is designed for small and medium enterprises operating on the territory of Bulgaria and seven other European Union states.
The selection was made from the aggregation of all EU member states with application of criteria based on the conclusions of the European Commission annual report on SMEs in Europe. The lead criterion is the produced added value per employee. To it we have added the annual value-added growth rate, adjusted for inflation and the annual employment growth rate for SMEs.
The selected countries are Romania, Croatia, Greece, Cyprus, Estonia and Portugal.

This project was developed in response to the need for the business to work in new ways in the contemporary information society that include new and more complicated approaches to the use of process and organisational development-related information. Its aim is to provide SMEs with a competitive advantage with the help of an affordable service that generates information and analyses, which overcomes, at least partially, the differences between SMEs and large companies related to the access to good quality business intelligence and organisational development resources delivered through an integrated smart IT application.
Our ambition is to create a new market model and turn SME managers into active agents of change who regularly assess the barriers and opportunities that their business faces and look for effective solutions for organisational development and for assistance from practicing experts when they can benefit from it.
The main technology we are developing targets an automation of knowledge work. It includes relational and textual databases for data organisation, structuring and indexing and computer algorithms for data collection, verification, analyses and machine learning. The technology transforms the abundance of available data into a knowledge base and provides high quality business information to the potential clients.
The total cost of the project is BGN 2,757,468.16, of which the amount of grant funding from the National Development Plan is BGN 1,926,492.55. The implementation period is 34 months, starting from September 2023. STRATEGMA's contribution to the implementation in the amount of BGN 830,000 is provided with its own funds.
